Profile

Prof. Hammond Dr. Chris Hammond received a DPhil in Education from the University of Oxford (UK), an MA in Comparative Education from the University College London (UCL) Institute of Education (UK), and a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington (USA). His doctoral thesis focused on ideas of regional cooperation between China, South Korea and Japan across institutions and disciplines in Japanese higher education. He currently teaches the course Education in Asia-Pacific Societies in the Japan in East Asia program.

Research Interests

Chris’s recent research interests include the internationalization of curricula, inclusive education, and sociology of education and technology in the Asia-Pacific context. He has also explored and published on topics including higher education internationalization, regionalism, nationalism, citizenship education, and student activism, with a focus on East Asia and Japan.
